Making friends . . . I always taught students that there’s a 50/50 rule in life: no matter what you do, 50% of the people in the world will like you and 50% won’t like you, no matter what you do. Fortunately, most of the people around you are in the 50% that like you group. The problem is that you may not like everyone in the group that likes you! For example, somebody you don’t like thinks you’re the greatest person in the world—the guy you don’t want to date, for example—and nothing you do or say can make him go away.
People say, “wherever you go, there you are.” But moving to a new place gives the old you a new perspective.
